When a snowstorm hit Birmingham, Ala., Tuesday, it turned the city's streets and highways into parking lots. Nothing was moving. But neurosurgeon Dr. Zenko Hrynkiw got the call that a patient needed emergency brain surgery. So he hiked six miles through the snow, performed the operation and saved a life. "If he didn't have surgery, he'd be dead," Hrynkiw said. "It's not going to happen on my shift"
