September 15, 1949 ~ "The Fighting Kentuckian" was released to movie theaters 65 years ago. John Breen/JOHN WAYNE, a Kentucky militiaman, falls in love with French exile Fleurette De Marchand/Vera Ralston. He discovers a plot to steal the land that Fleurette's exiles plan to settle on.
"The Fighting Kentuckian" was Chuck Roberson's first appearance as John Wayne's stuntman. This was also the first film that Oliver Hardy acted in during the 23 year period he made comedies with his partner Stan Laurel.
